Sarah McPoland

Group Facilitator (In-person)

Sarah McPoland is an Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over eight years of professional experience in pre and special school contexts. 

She is passionate about improving the outcomes for AAC users and in her current advisory role, Sarah actively supports education staff to create inclusive environments by modelling communication strategies and providing targeted training. 

Prior to qualifying, Sarah supported individuals presenting with a diverse range of needs through a variety of voluntary roles. She also trained as a British Council Language Assistant, upskilling primary and secondary school students in their acquisition of English as a foreign language during two separate residencies in France. 

Sarah was delighted to be elected as a Trustee on the Board of Communication Matters in September 2022. 

Katrina (Kat) Moore

Group Facilitator (virtual)

Katrina is a Speech and Language Therapist. Since qualifying in 1999, Katrina has held various clinical roles in the NHS, Special Education and charity sectors, working with both children and adults with a range of complex communication needs. She now works in Independent Practice/ Freelance work. She has significant experience and maintains specialist skills in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), having previously worked as an AAC specialist at National Star College for over 10 years.

Seray Ibrahim

Senior Advisor

Seray is a researcher and speech-language therapist. Her research is focused on studying the design and use of technologies for communication. In her clinical roles, Seray has worked in NHS community and tertiary children’s health settings and since qualifying as a clinician 17 years ago, has been interested in the role of digital communication technologies in children’s lives. She currently works at the UCL Institute of Education, funded by an Economics and Social Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship award.
